Slick City Lands in Nottingham Featuring Five Rugged Interactive Attractions
Introducing a New Era of Gamified Play
The UK’s indoor leisure scene just got a lot more interesting. On Saturday, 14th March, Slick City opened its doors in Nottingham, marking the very first European location for the brand.
While Slick City is famous for its massive waterless slides, the Nottingham site is designed as a complete active entertainment park. We are pleased to be a key part of the fit-out, with five Rugged Interactive installations designed to get people moving and competing across the venue.
About Slick City
Slick City originally made a name for itself in the US as the world’s first ‘waterless water park’. The brand was born from a partnership between entrepreneur Bron Launsby and Gary Schmit, the inventor of Slick Slide technology.
After years of R&D, which included consulting with a NASA tribologist (a friction expert), they developed a patented, nearly frictionless surface. By using specialised mats on their slides, they managed to recreate the speed and feel of a water slide without the need for a swimsuit.
Slick City Nottingham is the first European venue for the brand, owned by leisure experience provider, Activeon. We’re excited to see how this develops across Europe in the coming years.

- Two PowrPlay Pitches: Taking traditional indoor football into the digital age, our PowrPlay targets transform the arena into a high-intensity, responsive game zone that rewards accuracy and speed.
- AeroStrike: A fan-favourite that combines target practice with rapid-fire movement, challenging players to score goals under pressure.
- BattleBaskets: This isn’t your average hoop shoot. BattleBaskets gamifies the basketball experience, turning every shot into a race against the clock and competition.
- Rugged Lighting: To tie the whole venue together, our Rugged Lighting system ensures the venue feels as electric and dynamic as the attractions themselves.
These interactive attractions offer fun for the whole family, with activities to try in every corner of the park, improving throughput and freeing up slide queues.
A Night to Remember: The VIP Launch
To celebrate the arrival of this US sensation on UK soil, Slick City hosted an exclusive opening night on Wednesday, 18th March, for close partners, industry experts, and loyal customers.
The Rugged Interactive team was out in force, not just to watch, but to get stuck into the action. We spent the evening running games on our attractions, testing out the slides, and witnessing firsthand the incredible energy that our products bring to a venue of this scale.
Seeing the smiles (and determination) on everyone’s faces reminded us of why we do what we do: making fitness fun through innovation.
