We only want people with energy, a sense of humour, commitment to a team ethic and a passion for sport, health and wellness. And as we are growing rapidly, there will be a world of Rugged opportunity that will open up as you get established.

If this appeals to you, read on for the details.

About Us

Rugged Interactive is a small but fast-growing and (really quite) ambitious high-tech play and fitness equipment company.  Our flagship product is the ‘CardioWall’, which we sell into schools, retirement communities, rehab units, sports clubs and gyms. One of our biggest and most exciting markets is ‘Active Fun’, where we sell interactive target, reaction and climbing games into trampoline parks, family entertainment centres and indoor playcentres around the world.  We have our HQ in Cornwall and a commercial office in Bristol, which is where this role is based.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic communicator with a background in health and fitness to be our Marketing Project Lead for Case Studies and Trials.  We need a people person who can work closely with our customers to plan, gather information and report on the impact of our products across our multiple sectors. You will also take a lead on the delivery of Rugged’s Health & Rehab Marketing Plan.

With a focus on our Health & Rehab markets, and secondarily on ‘Active Fun’, this role is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in the impact of exercise and mental wellbeing on a whole range of illnesses, conditions and old age.   And perhaps best of all, it’s a chance to be part of a dynamic young British company’s exciting growth journey.

Role Summary

Take primary responsibility for Rugged’s Health Marketing Plan and its execution

  • Project planning – create a detailed staged plan for upcoming case studies, trials and testimonials for the next 12 months. This will cover our Healthy Aging, Rehab & Wellness and Active Fun sectors in the UK, Europe and the USA
  • Customer engagement – build rapport and mutually-beneficial engagement with customers in order to capture marketable user statistics and feedback. Where necessary, get hands on with these trials
  • Create relevant documents for case studies/trials/testimonials including participant information sheets, consent forms, questionnaires, best practice and feedback forms
  • Use the captured feedback and user insight to create and write up case studies explaining the impact of Rugged interactive products on users and operators
  • Produce a constant supply of reference material, testimonials and publishable statistics for the marketing and sales teams to use
  • Trial sites - manage the relationship with the end customer that you are collecting data with/on. Ensure they are clear on what the expectations are from the trial and that they are comfortable with our data collection proposed
  • Plan regular customer visits to gather marketing material, testimonials and customer feedback
  • Copywriting – generate creative and engaging case studies and content for blogs and newsletters. Ensure the correct tone for the market you are speaking to
  • Work alongside marketing department to make your findings presentable for both sales and marketing purposes
  • Keep our database of reference customer sites up-to-date
  • Help RI to keep growing by doing whatever is needed ‘for the cause’

About You

You’ll be:

  • An excellent communicator – both in person and on the phone / video calls
  • Confident with writing up findings from case studies, customer feedback and trials
  • Friendly, outgoing, and positive, and very much a team player – challenges are often best overcome together, and communication is everything
  • Good at researching a market or patient group – for example, understanding the impact of exercise on patients with Parkinson’s
  • Able to plan, manage and run multiple projects at one time with guidance and input from the Commercial Director and marketing department
  • Very well organised and good at following a process, keeping records and generally being ‘on the ball’ / good with detail
  • Excellent at managing your time and priorities across multiple projects and areas
  • Interested in sport and exercise with a competitive spirit – it’s at the core of what we do
  • Able to work without the need to be supervised (after your initial training of course!) and a completer-finisher
  • Good fun – we think a sense of humour is essential for good team working
  • Able to use your initiative

Additional skills preferred:

  • Background, or a strong interest in sport science, health and wellbeing. You’ll be working closely with patient groups including those with dementia, stroke, cardiovascular disease and more, so an ability to understand the human body and the impact of exercise interventions on these patients is key
  • Experience of creating and implementing customer surveys
  • Experience of exercise testing and/or fitness assessments
  • Enjoy copywriting of mailshots and blogs

Experience required:

  • Minimum of 2 years doing the main roles associated with this opportunity – leading and running projects, collaborating / communicating with customers and product user groups, fitness and healthcare experience

Working arrangements:

  • Full time – minimum of 37.5 hours a week
  • Based in Bristol – currently at Future Space on the UWE campus
  • Hybrid working – currently we work 2-3 days per week in the office, 2-3 days from home
  • Flexible working hours around our core hours of 9:30am – 4pm
  • Regular visits to UK customer sites for capturing case study information, running trials, gathering testimonials etc.
  • Chance to attend trade shows in the UK and abroad (US, Europe)
  • Good holiday allowance and work-life balance

Additional information:

  • Preferred candidates will have achieved a minimum 2:2 grade at undergraduate degree level, ideally in a relevant course related to this role
  • A degree in sports science, physiology or a related discipline is preferred, or minimum Level 3 Personal Training qualification would be highly beneficial

Here are a few words from some of Team Rugged:

"There's never a dull day working for Rugged! One day I'll be product testing our latest invention, the next, I'll be planning a trip to a retirement home to talk all things 'active ageing'. It's non-stop action, and I wouldn't change a thing." - Robin
"I've been with Rugged for years now (in fact, I am pretty much part of the furniture). It's an ever-growing and ambitious team that becomes somewhat of a family. There's always something new and exciting brewing, and that's what makes it such a great place to work." - Lucy
